About Ahzin

In Farsi, the Persian language, the name Ahzin means jewels and riches. True to her name, Ahzin has always been fascinated by jewelry since she was a little girl. Although she was enamored with the gold and glitter of jewelry, she did not think it was possible to pursue a career in the jewelry industry. She went on to earn her PhD in Sociology from the University of Miami, where she formed a deep appreciation for the different societies and civilizations of the world. During her graduate graduate school career, she accompanied her grandmother on a trip to Iran, formerly Persia, where she learned the meaning of gold and how this metal gives economic agency to women in a society where they have little day-to-day freedoms. A thinker and a creator, Ahzin came back to America thirsty to create pieces, but not just any pieces. She integrates her knowledge of social movements and symbols with precious metals to create works of art that had deep, rich meanings.

Ahzin’s brand provides rich, full bodied pieces that are statement oriented in its distinct color, quality, and design. Born and raised in the United States to Persian parents, Ahzin started her brand to bring you high quality gold pieces that serve as fashion statements and accrue value over time. She prides herself in providing you with timeless fine jewelry that revives ancient Persian styles with modern precision. Our pieces are proudly made in America, and they are made to be gifted, worn, saved, and passed down to the next generation.

A little history

Known to be an era full of economic prosperity and growth, women were prohibited from participating in work during the reign of the Persian Empire, but resilient in their quest for financial freedom, women turned to informal avenues of wealth acquisition through tala or gold. It was through the gifting and trading of gold that women accumulated riches. Worn as a fashion statement but protected as a savings account, gold jewelry was worn, admired, and passed down from generation to generation to become a symbol of liberation and freedom.

What is fine quality gold?

We only work with the finest gold.

In its purest form, gold is 24 karats, but pure gold is a soft metal that bends and folds. To make gold wearable and durable, it is mixed with other metals like silver, copper, and bronze, which lowers the karat value. The more added metal, the lower the karat. Gold of lower tier karats turns dull and looks worn down over time, as it begins to take on the color of the metals that it is mixed with.

Mathematically, 24 karat gold is pure 100% gold. We define high quality gold jewelry when the piece is at least 18 karats or 75% pure gold. Our 18 karat gold is lightly mixed with other metals, but holds true to its gold color and quality.

18, 20, and 22 karat gold are the highest quality golds in the world. We exclusively sell 18 and 20 karat gold and are dedicated to providing you with pure Persian style gold, one that gives both a feeling of royalty and accessibility.
